Double-Height Living Room
Tall shelving and a gallery for a room with sky in it.
[ Overview ]
A double-height extension left the owners with glorious volume and nowhere to put anything. We built floor-to-eaves ash shelving, a small gallery landing for the books that matter, and a ladder that slides the full run on a brass rail.

[ The challenge ]
What the room asked of us
Fixing tall joinery to a new-build wall that moved with the seasons. The whole shelving wall hangs from a concealed steel spine, so it floats while the building settles around it.
[ Our approach ]
How we answered it
Pale ash to keep the light, oiled white to hold the colour. Every shelf is adjustable on hidden pins, and the gallery balustrade doubles as a bookcase on its inner face.
