Ashgrove Bedroom

A quiet bedroom in cherry, trimmed like a violin.

[ Overview ]

A light sleeper asked for a bedroom with no buzzing, no rattles and nowhere for dust to hide. We lined the room in cherry trim, built a silent bed frame on wedged tenons, and fitted wardrobes to the sloping ceiling with barely a shadow gap.

[ The challenge ]

What the room asked of us

The ceiling fell eleven centimetres across the room and the client could hear a drawer slide from two floors away. Every wardrobe was scribed in place and every drawer runs on waxed wooden runners — silent by design.

[ Our approach ]

How we answered it

American cherry throughout, finished in shellac and wax for a soft, low-sheen glow. Ventilated wardrobe backs keep clothes fresh, and the bed disassembles with eight bolts for the next move.
